Dog Friendly Walk Reviews

Walking with your dog in Suffolk can be one of the most pleasurable ways of spending a free morning or afternoon. One interesting fact about the footpaths of Suffolk is that there are as many miles of them as there are public roads, and that's an amazing figure of 3,500. This figure does include bridleways and byways, but it's still an incredible figure. In addition to this, there are thousands upon thousands of hectares of Parkland, with over 500 in Ipswich alone.

The reviews on this site are a mixture of Public footpaths, bridleways, and Public parks, but they all have one thing in common, and that is that they are Dog Friendly. Some of the walks reviewed are more dog friendly than others, but don't worry, we'll let you know about any special rules. Whilst we generally only review walks where you can let your dog off the lead, you should always put them on one when on a footpath that has farm animals roaming nearby, and of course when walking through any nature reserves. It goes without saying, that when walking in the countryside, you should always follow The Country Code:

  • Be safe, plan ahead and follow any signs
  • Leave gates and property as you find them
  • Protect plants and animals and take your litter home
  • Keep dogs under close control - you do not have to keep them on a lead, but it may be advisable on a bridleway or in an open field with animals loose.
  • Consider other people

We hope you enjoy our reviews as much as we do experiencing them. If you have any comments, or would like to suggest a walk, then please do join the Forum and add a post. Or, if you're too shy to join up, you can simply send us a message using the Feedback Form.
